While it is quite harmless and not contagious, chicken skin can be quite annoying. And it can get worse over time if left untreated. 1. NOT EATING ENOUGH FAT

When trying to lose the extra pounds, the first thing you want to eliminate from your diet is fat. But in reality, eliminating healthy fats can cause you to gain weight and make some skin conditions worse. If your body isn’t getting enough essential omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, it can contribute to inflammation of the skin and make those pesky bumps more visible.

What to do instead: Try eating more foods rich in fatty acids. Nutritionists recommend including unfarmed fish and pasture-raised eggs in your diet.

2. APPLICATION OF HARD BODY PEEL

Daily exfoliation can help smooth chicken skin, while harsh body scrubs can make the condition worse. The coarse particles in the scrubs can irritate the skin, causing it to be itchy and peeling.

What to do instead: Instead of using exfoliants with large, irregularly shaped particles, try gently massaging your skin with a loofah or pumice stone.

5. USING PERFUMED SOAPS

Comedogenic skin care products can make the condition worse, as chicken skin is caused by a buildup of keratin in the pores. Your favorite soap may smell like rose garden, but it likely contains artificial additives that can clog your pores and cause skin inflammation.

What to do instead: Opt for gentle, hypoallergenic skincare products that don’t irritate sensitive skin.

6. WEAR TIGHTNESS CLOTHING

Wearing inappropriate clothing is not good for your health for many reasons and can worsen chicken skin rashes, among other complications. Tight clothing does not allow your skin to breathe and can cause friction leading to further skin irritation.

What to do instead: Consider looser clothing made from skin-friendly fabrics like organic cotton.
